About Temporary Fencing Solutions

Temporary Fencing is commonly used as a cheaper alternative to solid panel hoarding. It is generally quicker and easier to deploy, adjust and remove.

A temporary fence is more commonly found outdoors on a variety of construction projects and so consideration must be given to any impact from site-specific wind pressure.

The Lomax System Standard Counterweight has been cleverly designed to be reversable. You can deploy the counterweight in one orientation for solid panel hoarding solutions and then ‘spin it around’ and deploy the same counterweight for temporary fencing configurations.

When deployed for temporary fencing, the unique design of the counterweight ensures that only 3cm of the counterweight protrudes from the front of the panel and so it offers a bespoke ‘Safe Pedestrian Zone’ solution.

Compliance for Temporary Fencing

Australian Standard AS4687 provides the technical, safety and minimum structural guidelines that both solid panel hoardings and mesh panel temporary fence solutions must adhere to.

This standard ensures that the temporary fence can withstand a physical ‘impact’ to both the front and the rear of a certain force to simulate an equivalent occurrence / accident during any general construction works.

It also requires that the fence panel can withstand specific aperture and load tests.

Given that the locations of many temporary fence solutions are often in ‘high pedestrian traffic areas’, adherence to the required Australian Standard AS4687 is critical.

The Lomax system is designed, manufactured, and tested to exceed AS4687 requirements.

Why use the Lomax System for Temporary Fencing

  • Safe Pedestrian Zone – Only 3cm of counterweight protrudes out from the front of the fence panel.
  • Narrow Footprint – All our configurations have an extremely narrow footprint of only 46cm – No additional back-bracing required.
  • Dual Function Counterweight – for both hoarding and fencing.
  • Optional Saddle Weight – Extra weight within the same narrow footprint.
  • Integrated Panel Clamps – Our Fencing Support Post has a built-in clamp so additional units are not required.
  • Multiple Configurations – Offers a range of engineered configurations for multiple wind speeds and site conditions.
  • Designed and engineered for compliance to AS4687 – All possible configurations are certified by an external, independent structural engineer.
